COACHES' CODE OF CONDUCT
JettLife Youth Flag Football believes in a fun, competitive, and fair environment. All of JettLife’s coaches, volunteers, and contracted representatives are expected to follow the code of conduct to ensure consistent behaviors throughout.
I PROMISE:
- To promote a fun, encouraging environment with sportsmanship in the forefront.
- To treat all children equally no matter race, gender, religion, culture, or skill level
- To be a positive role model by demonstrating a positive attitude, patience, and maturity
- To place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of any personal or parental desires to win
- To refrain from using tobacco, alcohol, and/or drugs at any practices, games, and other events
- To ensure the safety of athletes by utilizing coaching methods and activities suitable for the age, experience, ability and fitness level of the athletes
- To recognize and denounce harassment. Harassment consists of many forms but can generally be defined as behavior including comments and/or conduct which is insulting, intimidating, hurtful, malicious, degrading or otherwise offensive to an individual or group of individuals or which creates an uncomfortable environment.
Harassment may include:
written or verbal abuse or threats;
sexually oriented comments;
racial or ethnic slurs;
unwelcome remarks, jokes, innuendoes, or taunting about a person’s body, attire, age, marital status, ethnic or racial origin, religion, etc.
displaying of sexually explicit, racist or other offensive or derogatory material;
practical jokes that cause awkwardness or embarrassment, endangering a person’s safety, or negatively affecting performance;
unwelcome sexual remarks, invitations or requests whether indirect or explicit, or intimidation;
condescension, paternalism or patronizing behavior which undermines self-respect or adversely affects performance of working conditions;
attempted or actual physical conduct such as touching, patting, pinching, etc.;
attempted or actual physical assault.
The above code of conduct has been established for the safety and well-being of all participating. As a condition of volunteering, I give permission, to conduct a background check, which may include a review of sex offender registries, child abuse and criminal history records.
I understand that, if appointed, my position is conditional upon the league receiving no inappropriate information on my background.
I also understand that, regardless of previous appointments, JYFF is not obligated to appoint me to a coach/volunteer position.
I have read, understand and agree with the above statements. Further, I agree to conduct myself in a manner that demonstrates the standards established in the JYFF Coaches’ Code of Conduct.
